Pierre-Luc Dubois was not on the ice at MedStar Capitals Iceplex on Thursday. Dubois missed a second consecutive day of practice for the Washington Capitals after head coach Spencer Carbery said Wednesday that it was possible the veteran centerman could skate for the first time since suffering a lower-body injury in New York. Dubois will likely sit out for a second game when the Capitals host the Minnesota Wild on Friday night.

SAN JOSE Michael Misa's brief wait to make his NHL debut with the San Jose Sharks will be coming to an end. Misa will play in his first NHL game on Tuesday when the Sharks host the Carolina Hurricanes to close out their season-opening three-game homestand, coach Ryan Warsofksy confirmed. The Sharks juggled their lines for Monday's practice, and Misa, a center, skated on the Sharks' third line with wingers Ty Dellandrea and Philipp Kurashev.

Forwards Matej Blumel and Alex Steeves, defenseman Jonathan Aspirot, and goalie Michael DiPietro were placed on waivers. All four cleared waivers and will report to Providence. The Bruins also assigned Matt Poitras to Providence, with the young center exempt from the waiver wire. Boston had until 5 p.m. on Monday to get their roster down to 23 players, with the Bruins seemingly settling all business a day earlier.

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- For the second time in four weeks, the winless New York Jets released a player who made a critical mistake on special teams. Isaiah Williams, who lost a fumble on the second-half kickoff in Monday night's 27-21 loss to the Miami Dolphins, was waived on Saturday, a source told ESPN. It was another loud statement by first-year coach Aaron Glenn, who is trying to create a sense of accountability. After a Week 1 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Jets cut kickoff returner Xavier Gipson, whose late fumble proved costly in the two-point loss.

The Tigers and Mariners get their AL Division Series underway tonight in Seattle, with rookie Troy Melton starting for Detroit against former All-Star George Kirby. Both teams will go with 14 position players and 12 pitchers on their 26-man rosters for the series.... Keith and Hanifee are newcomers to the playoff roster, replacing Paul Sewald and Justyn-Henry Malloy. Right ribcage inflammation has kept Keith from playing since September 18, and he wasn't quite ready to go for the Tigers' wild card series against the Guardians.

The Boston Celtics significantly altered their roster this offseason - shedding a hefty amount of payroll by trading away two lineup regulars in Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis. Boston also wasn't able to retain other key players in free agency, as Al Horford and Luke Kornet signed with the Warriors and Spurs, respectively, out on the open market. The Oilers didn't make huge splashes in free agency, with their biggest addition being winger Andrew Mangiapane from Washington and Issac Howard brought in from Tampa Bay. Mangiapane will be a solid option on the wings in the Oilers top nine and has shown in the past that he's capable of a 25 to 30 goal season when put in the right position. Expect to see him used in all situations, and potentially seeing some action on the top line with McDavid throughout the season.

For the Sirens, the 2025-26 campaign is an opportunity to right the ship following consecutive last-place finishes in the PWHL's first two seasons. New York also scored the fewest goals in the PWHL last season. Every season is an opportunity to write a new story, said general manager Pascal Daoust. The catching position in Tampa has been a revolving door for many years now. Mike Zunino got the majority of the playing time back there in the 2019 to 2022 stretch but his performance tailed off in the final year of that span. In 2023, the Rays used Francisco Mejia, Christian Bethancourt and without any of those three taking firm hold of the job.

Infielder/outfielder Josh Smith has been placed on the paternity list. Right-handers Chris Martin and Cole Winn have each been placed on the 15-day injured list. Right-handers Luis Curvelo and Jose Corniell have been recalled to take two of those spots. Infielder Donovan Solano has had his contract selected to take the third. To open a 40-man spot for Solano, right-hander Nathan Eovaldi has been transferred to the 60-day injured list.

Expected to be one of the main driving forces of the Jays' offense in 2025, Santander had actually been quite the disappointment in his first season with Toronto. Prior to his shoulder injury that has kept him out since the end of May, the 30-year-old outfielder posted just a feeble .179 average, .577 OPS, along with 14 runs scored, six home runs and 18 RBIs in 50 games played with the club.

The Marlins announced a big series of roster moves today.

The Pirates are calling up pitching prospect Hunter Barco, reports Brent Martineau of CBS47/FOX30. The Bucs will need to make corresponding moves to open active and 40-man roster spots for the lefty.

The New York Mets are currently out of the postseason picture after holding a playoff spot everyday since April 5. After FanGraphs gave the Mets a 96.2 percent chance to make the playoffs on June 12, that number currently sits at 50.7 percent. In other news, the Detroit Tigers (who, along with the Mets, have also been slumping recently) cut ties with trade deadline addition Charlie Morton. The veteran was designated for assignment on Sunday, possibly putting his 18-year career to an end.

In other news, the Dodgers lost a catcher ahead of the eventual defeat. A National League rival claimed the backstop off waivers after he made just one appearance in Dodger blue during his time with the organization. Additionally, LA added a familiar veteran pitcher this week amid their bullpen struggles. The right-hander was designated for assignment earlier this month and didn't see much success during the end of his Dodger tenure.

This was a common theme especially during the Jimmy Butler era from 2019-2024. Still, that Heat core repeatedly defied all the negative odds and expectations that were thrown their way. That was well documented by the overachieving success of two NBA Finals runs and one Eastern Conference finals run all in a five-year span- as NBA fans around the world started jumping on board with the franchise's infamous "Heat Culture."

We've got some more roster shuffling to discuss as the Atlanta Braves are continuing to throw stuff at the wall and figure out what sticks and what doesn't. This time, they've decided to go with one of their most intriguing pitching prospects in the form of Jhancarlos Lara. The hard-throwing right-hander will get the chance to face big league hitters for the first time at some point in the near future.

Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff was on a mission to change the roster for the better. Last season left a bad taste in his mouth and he wanted to make changes. He re-signed two of his biggest players, center Gabe Vilardi (six-year deal) and defenseman Dylan Samberg (three-year deal). He then went out in free agency and added some depth but those players filled holes.
